Distributing Co., Inc. || "Quality Sales and Service since 1947"

We at McQuade Distributing Co. have children too, so we take the issue of underage drinking very seriously in our community. We have made a commitment to Bismarck/Mandan and the surrounding area we service, to help educate parents on how to help solve this problem.

Available at our 1150 Industrial Drive location, is the booklet, Family Talk; a guide for parents on how to talk to their children about drinking. This booklet, provided as a community service by Anheuser-Busch, is designed to help prevent underage drinking by encouraging open, honest communication between parents and children about this difficult subject. It is also available in video format at the Bismarck Public Library. Ask for the Family Talk video. For more information on Anheuser-Busch's efforts to prevent alcohol abuse, please write or call:

On April 10 and 11, 2000, McQuade Distributing Co. brought Barbara Babb and her "Make the Right Call" program into Bismarck and Mandan schools. Ms. Babb, a former helicopter flight nurse, is a national speaker who delivers a factual and impactful presentation to students about the consequences of underage drinking, drunk driving and driving without a seat belt. She spoke at the Mandan, Bismarck and Century High Schools.

While visiting with several educaters who attended her presentation, John Salwei, Assistant Superintendent of Bismarck Public Schools, was told her presentation was "powerful." In addition, her presentation was endorsed by Bismarck's Chief of Police, Deborah Ness. In a letter to McQuade Distributing, Chief Ness stated that "listening to the stories of the survivors of the alcohol related crashes is hard hitting, but very effective. Ms. Babb's message needs to be put out to all who will listen."

McQuade Distributing has a video of Ms. Babb's live presentation. Call Shannon at 223-6850 or e-mail at shannon@mcquades.com if you are interested in showing it to a school or organization.

Honorary Designated Driver Contest

In the end of December, 2001, McQuade Distributing teamed up with two radio stations - KQ 94.5 and 101.5 - in an effort to increase the awareness of using designated drivers during the holiday season. Listeners were asked to vote for an "Honorary Designated Driver" by selecting their favorite DJ from the two radio stations. They could do this by 1) filling out the ballot on this web site, 2) voting at their favorite night spot, or 3) calling into the radio station when the DJs said that they should. By entering a vote, the participants made themselves eligible to win a Budweiser/We All Make A Difference sweatshirt.

After analyzing a full week's worth of voting, we decided to have two winners - one from each radio station, since many listeners don't tune in to both stations. It was a very close contest, but the winners were as follows: from KQ 94.5 - Sid Hardt, and from 101.5 - Uncle Jack. The two men are pictured below. See the caption for more information.

From Left to Right: Uncle Jack, 101.5; Dawn from Chips Casino & Lounge; Geneva Anderson, Consumer Awareness Coordinator, McQuade Distributing; Gary Schumacher, Taxi 9000; and Sid Hardt, KQ 94.5.

Thank you to everyone who supported this contest, including Pirates Cove and Friday's for hosting a Live Remote, the voters, the two radio stations, Taxi 9000, and all of the retailers that allowed us to place a ballot box in their store.
